The most beautiful country...
it took my breath away....
Em and I flew out on Tuesday and returned on Friday, but that meant we had two full days to see this beautiful country.
The first adventures we had were on Wednesday, in Zurich. Somehow we took about 3 hours to find an acceptable lunch, but salmon sandwiches taste even better on the edge of a lake in the "little big" city that is Zurich.
The post lunch activity began with pedalos. It was down to me to converse with the nice lady who ran the pedalos (which I thought would be the hardest part), and so we approached the jetty with me frantically trying to recall any vocab related to, well, pedalos.
Needless to say that was the easy part. More difficult was the actual driving of the thing. I did try and reassure Em that my, um, criticism was no r
eflection on her skills concerning car driving (and seriously Em, I wouldn't have done any better!)But we got out onto the lake without killing any swans - do they belong to the authorities like they belong to the Queen here? - in fact with no damage whatsoever! Credit to Em's steering!
Then, after some slight complication with clothing rearrangement, I sat on the side and did a little sun bathing on the side of the pedalo, whilst Em faithfully sat in the driving seat.
After the pedalo adventure, we sauntered down to the lake, where we found a spot to keep our clothes and shoes, and waded into the lake for a lovely swim, in very clear waters. In no way comparable to the Taf! A sunbathe and an icecream later, and we were ready to go back to the station and enjoy the comfort of Swiss public transport (not to mention its punctuality!)
Thursday took us to the mountains, where we walked up to a lake called Seealpsee and then had a lovely lunch. The scenery is unparalleled and our host, Roland, was good at encouraging us to the top - he was right, the views were worth it. In the afternoon we took a cable car to Ebenalp (1590m) and had a cold beer at the top. Exams - all forgotten!
It was such a relaxing time, we spoke bits and pieces of German to the delight (?) of shopkeepers, (more difficult than expected due to the differences between Swiss German and Hoch-Deutsch), soaked up the sun and ate great food.
Funniest moment - explaining the plot of the Sound of Music to a Swiss national half way up a mountain.

wow, looks like youhad a great time. the mountains look amazing.
have tosay the bits of ghana ive seen so far dont reallytake your breath away -will have to travel for that i think. still agreat place though.
