i never write about sermons
... so now i am.Jacob was a deceiver. He sided with his mum and hoodwinked his father. He wangled the blessing. He ran away and got a couple of wives - granted that he had to wait for!
But God waits for him. He wrestles with him. It wasn't an "I surrender all" song which brought Jacob to his knees, it was a fight with God. Wrestling issues from his past - family feud, doing the decent thing - making up.
I fight with God all the time. all the time.
wonderful grace,
that gives me the time to change,
washes away the stains
that once covered me.
wonderful love,
whose power can break every chain,
giving us life again,
setting us free.
